Govt's attack on advertisers; 'Vulgar' deo ads to go off-air

New Delhi, May 26: Indian government has finally landed to control the "vulgar" ads to redeem the cultural values of the future generations in the country. The government asked several deodorant advertisers to modify some of their ads or to withdraw them from airing.

Government sources informed that complaints have come from different parts of the country regarding some 'vulgar" deo ads. citing the complaints, a government spokesperson said, "These ads appear indecent, vulgar and suggestive and hence appear to violate rule 7(8) of the Advertising Code."

The government also claimed that the disputed ads also violated the Cable Television Networks Rules which says "...the cable operator shall ensure that the portrayal of the female form, in the programmes carried in his cable service, is tasteful and aesthetic, and is within the well established norms of good taste and decency."
