Patna, May 23 (PTI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumartoday said the UPA government stood "totally exposed" in thewake of large-scale scams like the 2G spectrum surfacing oneafter another.
"The UPA government in Delhi stands fully exposed inthe wake of the string of these scandals which tumbled out oneafter another," Kumar said during a monthly interaction withthe NDA workers at his official residence here.
Predicting that some more scams could come out of thecloset, Kumar referred to several UPA functionaries havingbeen put behind the bars for their alleged involvement inthese irregularities.
Kumar said the state government had "zero-tolerance"towards the issue of graft.
The NDA government decided to appoint "ombudsmen" asan instrument to strictly deal with irregularities and curbthe practice with the involvement of representatives of localbodies and panchayats.
The chief minister appealed to the NDA workers toinvolve themselves in the "gram sabhas" in a more pro-activemanner "to uproot corruption totally and effectively."He noted that the Bihar government enacted SpecialCourt Act 2009 which provides for confiscation of propertiesillegally amassed by corrupt public employees and set upschools and government offices with the recovered money.
The state government had also decided to introduce thenew law - Right to Service Act - with effect from August 15next, he said.
Deputy Chief Minister S K Modi, state JD(U) chief B NSingh and his BJP counterpart C P Thakur also spoke on theoccasion.
