New Delhi, May 23 (PTI) Congress today said that it wasfor Priyanka Vadra to decide whether to enter active politics,a day after party veteran Vasant Sathe made the suggestion.
"Whatever she (Priyanka) has to do in her life is herpersonal decision and it should be left to her," partyspokesman Manish Tewari said when asked about Sathe''s remark.
Tewari said he had not seen the report on Sathe''sremarks. "I have not seen the report. But if anyone has givenhis individual opinion then the question should be asked tohim," he said.
Asked whether Priyanka''s entry into active politics wouldovershadow brother Rahul Gandhi''s charisma, Tewari said: "thisis an inappropriate and mischievous question".
Sathe had said that if the Congress'' "first family" --Sonia Gandhi, Rahul and Priyanka -- embarked on a vigorousmass contact drive in the months and years to come, the partycould restore the past glory of single party rule in the nextLok Sabha polls.
The 86-year-old former union minister had said that afterSonia, Priyanka is the one who has more mass appeal ascompared to Rahul but she was not coming forward in activepolitics as she apparently feels her brother will be"sidelined".
Sathe, who was a close associate of Indira Gandhi, saidthat the late leader in her difficult days struck a rarechord with people through her mass appeal and contact and thesame should be emulated now.
