Uttar Pradesh has suddenly turned into a battleground when all parties, especially Congress and BJP engage in taking full political facilities over land acquisition row which already became a deadly battle. Citing the immense oppression from Chief Minister Mayawati and her government, Congress vowed to show immense protest all over the state. Sources informed that the party soon may observe chakka jam (strike) in Uttar Pradesh.
First Mayawati government arrested BJP's Rajnath Singh and soon Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi followed the BJP leader and was briefly detained on Wednesday as he accompanied the agitated farmers.
Earlier Congress leader Digvijay Singh claimed, "Mayawati's family is taking Rs 3000 per square feet and she is not willing to agree on small demands of the farmers. There should be inquiry on the people who are framed, they should be let off and the farmer's land should not be taken away from them forcefully."
Rajnath Singh also claimed, "Mayawati should resign. The agitation will continue even if I am arrested." Rajnath Singh, according to the latest information began a 24-hour fasting protest. Meanwhile, other BJP leaders like - Arun Jaitley, Sushma Swaraj and the JDU's Sharad Yadav also joined the protest against Mayawati and her government.
However, the UP CM accused the Congress party of "misleading" the farmers and the aam admi (common man). Mayawati on Thursday asserted that the allegations against her were "false" and farmers were paid compensations for the land acquisitions.
