TN PU results: Slight increase in pass percentage
About eight lakh students took up the examinations held last month. This year's pass percentage was marginally higher than that of last year's from 85.2 per cent, Directorate of Government Examinations said here.
K Rekha from Hosur topped the examination by securing 1190 marks out of 1,200. Rekha, a student of Vijaya Vidyalaya School in the district, has scored centum in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
"Thanking her parents and school teachers, an elated Rekha said she had planned to study in medicine. K Velmurugan of Kallakurichi ranked second scoring 1187 marks.
Four persons shared third rank scoring 1,186 marks. Girls outshined boys in the examination securing the top pass percentage of 89 per cent while boys'' scored 82.3 percentage.
The results showed that pass percentage in Corporation Schools grew marginally by 1.6 per cent. Corporation Schools in Chennai has reported a 86.41 pass percentage with girl students outshinig boys with 89.49 per cent while boys 76 per cent.
