Syed Ali Geelani alone in mourning Osama's death
Geelani, a hardline separatist leader, has appealed to various Imams across the state of Jammu and Kashmir and also the people over there to join him in the prayers for the now deceased Osama bin Lade.
Earlier there were reports that Geelani had been put under house arrest to prevent him from leading the funeral prayers for osama bin Laden. A large contingent of policemen were deployed outside his residence on May 6, but have been withdrawn in the afternoon.
No official of the state has confirmed the reports of Geelani's house arrest.
Geelani is the only separatist leader in Jammu Kashmir, who has condemned the killing of Osama bin Laden. He was quoted as saying, "He died a martyr who fought the US oppression in Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya."
It can be recalled that Laden, on May 1, the world's most hated man was gunned down by a team of US Navy seals in a late-night raid on his mansion at Abottabad, in Pakistan. It is believed that he stayed there since 2005 and in full connivance of the Pakistan government and ISI officials.
