Hyderabad, May 1: The All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE), which was scheduled to be held on Sunday, May 1 from 9:30 am, has been delayed by three hours. More than 12 lakh students have appeared for this exam all over the country on Sunday.

The AIEEE exam has been re-scheduled to be started at 12:30 pm as its first paper has been leaked in Lucknow on Saturday, Apr 30. One person has been arrested in Uttar Pradesh in connection with the paper leak.

"We are trying to trace down two people who leaked the paper. We have the paper with us since last night," stated Vijay Prakash of STF Lucknow.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), which conducts the exam, declared that the exam date can not be postponed since it is a national-level entrance test.

The exam was scheduled to be held in two sessions - the morning session was about to start from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and the noon session from 2 pm to 5 pm. The authorities will inform about the second session shortly.

This is the first time when the AIEEE exam is also being held online but less than 100 students have registered for the online exam to be held in Hyderabad only. However, nearly 1.25 lakh students from Andhra Pradesh and beside Hyderabad, the other exam centers are - Guntur, Tirupati, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam and Warangal.
