Samsung & Acer working on Google Chrome OS netbooks
A leaked bug report spotted by the technology blog Engadget revealed that the consumer electronics maker Samsung is working on Alex, a 10-inch netbook. The Chrome OS running Alex netbook is rumoured to be powered by a 1.5 GHz dual-core Atom N550 processor and 2 GB of RAM.
The screen size would be 10-inch with a screen resolution of 1280 x 800. The report added that Alex boasts a SanDisk SSD, but the size is not mentioned. Other features include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Webcam, Card Reader etc.
Some other reports added that the computer maker Acer is also working on a netbook powered by Chrome OS. The new Acer netbook that holds the name ZGB will have Atom processor and a 1366-by-768 resolution screen. Acer is also preparing a touchscreen device in the name Seaboard, which also runs on Chrome OS. The Acer Seaboard has a Tegra 2 processor, 1 GB of RAM, two UB ports and a HDMI port.
It is expected that these devices will be showcased at Google's IO conference, scheduled on May 10 and May 11. So, stay tuned for more updates.
