"We had planned to register our protest against the developments in the PAC meeting and also the manner in which the BSP and Samajwadi Party sided with the UPA but we were stopped by the ''autocratic state government'' right in front of the party office," state unit president of the BJP Surya Pratap Shahi said.
"The state unit wanted to highlight the nexus between these parties on the issue of corruption and scams by taking to streets of the city but police indulged in lathi charge in which over 12 of our workers, including some leaders were injured," he said.
Leaders of Samajwadi Party and BSP are facing serious charges in cases pertaining to assets disproportionate to their known sources of income and are therefore being blackmailed by the Congress, Shahi alleged.
Shahi said that permission to hold a protest on corruption against the BSP government in Noida today has also been denied and police indulged in lathi charge on BJP workers there also.
The BJP state president said that party workers would stage dharnas at all the district headquarters on Saturday, April 30 to protest PAC meeting developments.
