A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the Confederation of Newspapers and News Agencies Employees Organisations (CNNAEO) here today.
Taking strong exception to the "delay" in notification of Majithia wage boards'' recommendations, the Confederation had decided to meet Gandhi to urge her to direct the government to notify these immediately, CNNAEO General Secretary M S Yadav said.
"We fail to understand the delay. The recommendations were submitted timely to the Union Labour ministry on December 31, 2010," he said.
Yadav said scribes from all parts of the country would assemble at the residence of the UPA chairperson on Monday (a day after the Labour day) to urge her to give a strong direction to the government to notify the "much delayed" pay revision report, including the five resolutions passed through voting, without any further delay.
"Though many Cabinet ministers whom the Confederation met recently supported the demand of the journalists and non-journalists, things are still stuck up in the Labour ministry. We will request Gandhi to support our cause and get the job done expeditiously," he said.
Besides Yadav, IJU's Suresh Akhouri, senior leaders of NUJ (I) Nand Kishore Trikha and Manohar Singh, IFWJ General Secretary Parmanand Pandey, AINEF General Secretary Madan Talwar and Treasurer Roop Chand, DUJ General Secretary S K Pande, UNI Workers Unions General Secretary M L Joshi and PTI Workers Unions (Delhi) President Rajbir Singh and General Secretary Sanjay Sinha were present at the meeting.
The Confederation had organised a rally in front of the Union Labour Minister's office on March 24 to protest the "delay" in the notification of the recommendations of the wage boards.
