New Delhi, April 28: The ugly face of Indian politics was once again out in the open as reports claimed that members of the Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee almost came to a physical showdown after a bitter turn of events. The members of the committee elected a new chief after the Chairman Murli Manohar Joshi walked out.

The meeting resumed on a disturbing note after members of the Congress, SP and BSP demanded a division and vote on the report. The Chairman wanted to speak on the issue but was never allowed by the members as they started shouting. The senior BJP leader then walked out without voting on the 2G scam report that he had prepared.

The drama didn't end there as the 11 MPs of Congress, SP and BSP in the committee elected Congress MP Saifuddin Soz as the new PAC Chairman.

Later in the day, Ravi Shankar Prasad, the BJP spokesperson said, "We see these attacks as a part of pattern. We want to know, how is it that when Mr Manmohan Singh found him competent for the PAC chief, then how can he be called a villain. BJP strongly condemns deliberate and sponsor attack on Murli Manohar Joshi by the Congress party."

Retaliating to the statements made by the BJP, Jayanthi Natarajan, the Congress spokesperson said, "BJP wasted the time and money of the people and disrupted Parliament. I want to ask Murli Manohar Joshi how was the report leaked and who will take the responsibility of the leaked report. BJP has destroyed the institution of PAC."
