Boy beheads girl outside principal's chamber in Ranchi
The incident occurred within the college campus at around 3:30 pm when Khushboo Kumari was attacked by Vijendra Kumar, aged 20 with a sharp weapon, severing her head in the process right outside the principal's chamber.
Vijendra was subsequently captured by the students and later handed over to the police.
Vijendra, however painted a different picture to the police on what appeared to be a clear case of jilted love when he claimed that he and Khushboo were in love and added, “Since our parents were not in favour of our marriage, we had decided to die. As per our decision, after killing her I was to kill myself. But I was overpowered by others."
The police are investigating the credibility of the statement and if the love was two-sided or not. The Ranchi SSP Praveen Singh commented, “We still don't know if she was in love with him. Inquiry is on. Soon we will come to know the truth."
Initial investigations by the police revealed that both Khushboo and Vijendra hailed from Jamshedpur. While Vijendra was pursuing an engineering course in Jamshedpur, Khushboo got admitted to the Ranchi Women's College in 2009.
