Kalmadi to spend 8 more days in police remand

New Delhi, Apr 26: The sacked Commonwealth Games Organising Committee (CWG OC) chief Suresh Kalmdi has been sent to police custody for eight days, as per the order of a special CBI court on Tuesday, Apr 26.

A 14-day custody was sought for the 66-year-old Kalmadi by the CBI. Kalmadi arrested on charges of cheating, conspiracy and corruption in connection with awarding 2010 Games contracts.

The two other CWG OC officials - Surjeet Lal and ASV Prasad were also remanded in CBI custody till May 4.

On his way to the CBI special court, the man identified as Kapil Thakur threw a slipper at Kalmadi. The man was arrested immediately by the police officials present there. In spite of the insult, Kalmadi continued his journey steadfastly to the Patiala House court.
