Expressing displeasure over the use of such language by Basu at Arambagh yesterday, Bhattacharjee said in a statement "use of such words is unpardonable and unbecoming of a communist leader." The chief minister said he had asked the party to warn Anil Basu.
The former CPI(M) MP, who has won the Arambagh seat for seven time in a row in the past and recorded highest margin in the state in a Lok Sabha election, had allegedly hurled abuses against the Trinamool chief in the presence of senior local party leaders.
