"Congress is adopting double standards on the Lokpal issue. While their president is saying no doubts should be cast on the credibility of the civil society members in the drafting committee, Digvijay Singh and others are making false charges against them," BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said.
He asked Singh to first look at his own track record before levelling charges against others.
"The courts have taken cognisance of a case of illegal land allotment by Singh for constructing a shopping mall," Hussain said.
The Indore Bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court had on Wednesday directed the Economic Offences Wing to file a charge sheet by June 30 against Singh and 11 others in connection with alleged irregularities committed during construction of a shopping mall in Indore.
Alleging that the Congress was speaking in different voices, he maintained that the ruling party works only when pressure is imposed on it.
"On formation of a JPC on 2G spectrum issue, the government relented only under opposition pressure. After the JPC was formed they started questioning the membership of Jaswant Singh and Yashwant Sinha. Now they are again engaging in this old habit by raising doubts about the Lokpal Bill drafting committee members," he said.
The BJP leader also asked why Commonwealth Games Organising Committee chairperson Suresh Kalmadi was roaming free while others were in jail for graft.
"Prasar Bharti Chief B S Lalli has been removed on the basis of the V K Shunglu committee report but no action has been taken against others," Hussain said.
