New Delhi: EC team to travel to Egypt to help conduct polls
The six-member delegation, led by Chief Election Commissioner S Y Quereshi, will visit Egypt for a total of three days to help them organise polls specially with Electronic Voting Machines (EVM).
"The request had been made by the Egyptian Government and the Government of India had asked forwarded the request to us, which we happily accepted," EC Director General Akshay Raut said.
The delegation will meet the Egyptian Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and interact with their counterparts, he added.
Egypt is in a phase of transition following the resignation of President in February Hosni Mubarak who stepped down as President after weeks of protest in Cairo and other cities.
