Srinagar, Apr 14: It seems that the main opposition party - Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) tries to lessen the distances between the party and Muslim group. Top BJP leaders, for the first time, visited Maulana Showkat Shah's house on Thursday, Apr 14.

Senior BJP leaders Rajnath Singh and Ravi Shankar met Maulana's family and demanded a probe into the murder of the separatist leader who died during the bomb blast on Apr 8. (Read: Blast at Srinagar's mosque;Maulana Shokwat dead, many injured)

The Jamait-e-Ahl-e- Hadees chief, Showkat Ahmad Shah was killed when a bomb, hidden in a bicycle parked near the entrance to his mosque, exploded near Srinagar.

The people in the valley observed a three-day peaceful bandh over the murder of Showkat. All the shops and business establishments remained closed in most parts of Srinagar city and elsewhere in the Valley.

However, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah claimed that some clues had been found regarding the assassination, as he stated, "It will be premature to comment on the issue but we have received some tips about which way investigation should be taken."
