Woman, child development important for state policy: Omar

Jammu, Apr 8: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday, Apr 7 said that the development of women and children in the state forms an important component of the government's policy planning.

"Development of women and children forms the important phenomenon in my government's policy planning. Various programmes aimed at protection of rights of children and women and their comprehensive development are under implementation in the state," Omar said while speaking at a meeting with a team of National Commission for Protection of Rights of Children led by its Chairperson Shanta Sinha.

He outlined the measures in place in the state for taking care of development and growth of children with special reference to those belonging to poorer sections of the society.

"Besides a comprehensive strategy for overall welfare of the children and women, the state government in collaboration with Central agencies takes care of various aspects relating to the rights and development of poorer children," he said.
