Anna Hazare "moves" politicians, Pappu Yadav joins from Jail
Sources informed that former MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav, supporting Hazare on his anti-corruption battle, began fast which has entered on the second day on Thursday, Apr 7.
Pappu Yadav is facing a life term over the murder of CPI(M) MLA Ajit Sarkar. Currently, Yadav is continuing his fast in Tihar Jail and also confirmed that he will continue his protest untill the government approves Hazare's demand of Lokpal Bill. Pappu was taken to the Patna Medical College Hospital after his blood pressure fell, jail officials informed.
With innumerable scandals (2G spectrum scam, CWG, Adarsh housing scam and so on) the country is facing now, Hazare took things in his hand against the corrupt "babus" by fasting unto death.
Starting his protest on Tuesday, Apr 5, Hazare claimed, "Like Supreme Court (SC) and Election Commission, an independent body called Jan Lokpal should be set up at the Centre and a Jan Lokayukta should be set up in each state to receive complaints of corruption, investigate them within six months and prosecute the guilty."
On Thursday, Apr 7, government spokesperson Kapil Sibal held two rounds of meeting with Hazare's followers - Swamy Agnivesh and Arvind Kejriwal, though they failed to come up with some concrete solution.
Hazare's fast has entered the third day on Thursday. Doctors feared that the 72-year-old activist may fall ill, though Hazare himself claimed that he can continue the fast-unto-death. Meanwhile, two followers were taken to the hospital after they fell ill while continuing fast.
