Supreme Court sends notice Rahul Gandhi, UP govt
Delivering its judgment on the petition filed by former Samajwadi Party MLA from Madhya Pradesh Kishore Samrite, the SC on Wednesday, Apr 6 issued the notice and asked the respondents to file their replies within four weeks.
Samrite challenged the decision of the Allahabad High Court which had earlier slapped a fine of Rs 50 lakh on him. The former MLA had accused Rahul Gandhi over an alleged heinous crime. (Rahul Gandhi cleared off sex scandal)
Samrite had also filed a habeas corpus petition accusing Rahul of raping a girl from Amethi and also alleging that he held the victim and her parents in detention since 2007.
Dismissing the former MLA's charge, the High Court ordered a CBI probe against the petitioner, Kishor Samrite and websites that had reported the incident and others who had plotted the conspiracy against Rahul.
