New Delhi, Apr 6: The Allahabad High Court had declared Congress leader Rahul Gandhi as innocent in the alleged sexual assault case. But now, the Supreme Court issued a notice against the Congress leader and UP government regarding the old case.

Delivering its judgment on the petition filed by former Samajwadi Party MLA from Madhya Pradesh Kishore Samrite, the SC on Wednesday, Apr 6 issued the notice and asked the respondents to file their replies within four weeks.

Samrite challenged the decision of the Allahabad High Court which had earlier slapped a fine of Rs 50 lakh on him. The former MLA had accused Rahul Gandhi over an alleged heinous crime. (Rahul Gandhi cleared off sex scandal)

Samrite had also filed a habeas corpus petition accusing Rahul of raping a girl from Amethi and also alleging that he held the victim and her parents in detention since 2007.

Dismissing the former MLA's charge, the High Court ordered a CBI probe against the petitioner, Kishor Samrite and websites that had reported the incident and others who had plotted the conspiracy against Rahul.
