Islam Nagar police firing: Congress demands high-level probe
"There should be a high-level probe into the police firing that killed a person yesterday...The father of the deceased said had his son not come in the way the bullet would have hit Union Minister Subodh Kant Sahay," AICC Spokesman, Shakeel Ahmed told a news conference here.
"I would say it was a conspiracy against the Union minister who as an MP of the constituency had gone to the area to express his solidarity with people in distress," the party's in-charge of Jharkhand affairs said.
Ahmed said he had asked JPCC President Pradeep Kumar Balmachu to head a delegation to Raj Bhavan to urge the governor to get a detailed report of the incident.
"We'll also request the governor to send the report to the Centre recommending strong action against the government," he said.
Terming the incident unfortunate and inhuman, he demanded stringent action against the guilty policemen and those who had directed them to open fire.
