2G: Tata, Radia quizzed;now Anil Ambani's turn to be grilled

New Delhi, Apr 5: The three top officials of Reliance's Anil Dhirubai Ambani Group (ADAG) have been charge-sheeted by the investigating agency Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the biggest telecom spectrum scam in India. Now, the company's chief Anil Ambani is to appear before the another investigation committee - Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Tuesday, Apr 5.

The PAC led by BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi will quiz Mr Anil Ambani regarding the irregularities and alleged role of his company in the 2G spectrum scam. CBI has charge-sheeted against Reliance's officials - Gautam Doshi, Hari Nair and Surendra Pipara.

The PAC on Monday, Apr 4 questioned Tata group's chairman Ratan Tata and corporate lobbyist Niira Radia. While stating about Radia's tapped phone conversations with politicians, corporates, bureaucrats, and journalists regarding the 2G case, an official of PAC informed, "She (Radia) told us that some tapes are genuine while some are doctored."

Sources also informed that Ratan Tata was questioned about Tata group's launching of GSM mobile services when it was already a key player in the CDMA technology for such services. Mr Ratan Tata was also quizzed over his company's roles with journalists in paid news.

The CBI also submitted their investigating report where they charge-sheeted against former telecom minister A Raja; Shahid Usman Balwa, promoter of Swan Telecom; Vinod Goenka, a Director of Swan Telecom Pvt Ltd; Sanjay Chandra, Chairman of Unitech Wireless Ltd.
