India conquers the world: Mamata wants National holiday

Kolkata, Apr 3: Creating histroy once again, Team India won the world cup after 28 years. All Indians including political leaders joined the victory celebration. Now, citing the excitement among the country people, Union Railway Minister and Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee demanded national holiday on Monday, Apr 4.

Trinamool sources informed that Mamata, during the conversation with Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, requested to the central government to declare Monday as a national holiday to fete India's win.

"Our leader Mamata Banerjee has appealed to the union government through Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee to declare Monday as a national holiday so that whole of India can celebrate this win," Trinamool spokesperson stated.

Mamata on Saturday, Apr 2, when Team India lifted the World Cup, congratulated the champions. Congress president Sonia Gandhi joined the celebration with fans.

The Congress president was seen to dance with the fans on Delhi street and she cheered the team screaming "...Vande Mataram" President Pratibha Patil also wished the team and invited Team India to Raj Bhawan for tea on Sunday, Apr 3.
