Team India creates history; Eklavya Award to Yousuf, Munaf

Ahmedabad, Apr 3: Team India showed their dedication and commitment towards the nation and now it's their time to get pay off. Indian Cricket team won the world cup final defeating Sri Lankan team by 6 wickets. Citing the players' consistent performances, Indian government announced a series of rewards to each players of the world cup winning team.

Gujarat government, taking the first initiative in rewarding the players, declared Eklavya Award to the two Gujarat's sons - Yousuf Pathan and Munaf Patel who played a prominent roles in the world cup winning team.

The chief minister of the state, Narendra Modi, from his Twitter account, tweeted, "It's our proud privilege to honour the two Sons of Gujarat Yusuf Pathan & Munaf Patel with - Eklavya Award."

Eklavya Award is the highest sports award of the state which has been conferred to Yousuf and Munaf. While the all-rounder Yousuf is from Vadodara, Indian pacer Munaf is from Bharuch in central Gujarat.

Eklavya Award consists Rs 1 lakh, memento and certificate of honour. Meanwhile, Delhi government announced Rs 2 crore reward for Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Rs 1 crore each to the Delhi boys - Virendra Sehwag, Gautan Ganbhir, Virat Kohli and Ashish Nehra.
