YSR war in Kadapa: YS Jagan to face Vivekananda in by-polls
Sources added that Vivekananda Reddy, who is currently the agriculture minister in the Congress-led government in Andhra Pradesh, may resign the post to contest in the election. Vivekananda offered to quit the minister-ship, but Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy rejected and asked him to continue as the minister.
YS Jagan, former Kadapa MP, resigned from congress and floated his own party, YSR Congress. YS Jagan is likely to contest in Kadapa and his mother Vijayalakshmi from Pulivendula assembly seats.
Mean while, the Election Commission of India has rejected YSR Congress' request for a common symbol for its candidates contesting in bye-polls. The EC said that common symbol will be allotted to only those parties which field a minimum of 10 per cent candidates in assembly elections. So, YS Jagan's party will not be eligible to get common symbol as they are contesting only two seats.
