Chennai, Mar 29: The DMK-led alliance today lodged a complaint with the Election Commission against the reported statement of DGP Bhola Nath that all booths in the 234 constituencies of poll-bound Tamil Nadu were "sensitive," saying this would create a "scare" in the minds of voters.

"This sort of alarming announcement before assembly polls by the DGP will definitely create a scare in the minds of voters and the voters may restrain from voting because of fear psychology," a representation made by the DMK-led Democratic Progressive Alliance to Chief Electoral officer Praveen Kumar said.

It demanded suitable action against the "misleading announcement of the DGP."

The statement will make voters living outside Tamil Nadu to assume that the state is a "disturbed area" , it said, adding, there were no warranting circumstances to announce that all the constituencies were sensitive.

The Election Commission had recently ordered the transfer of DGP Letika Saran and appointed Bhola Nath as DGP for the conduct of elections but Saran went on leave last week following which he assumed additional charge.
