LK Advani
Mumbai, Mar 29: Speaking at the 'Face the Press" programme organised by Press Club of Mumbai, Bharatiya Janatha Party (BJP) leader LK Advani said that the riots happened in the country can't be justified, but he ruled out the idea of apologizing for the 2002 Gujarat riots.

"You are talking of regret and apologies. I understand there have been many riots in Hindustan. It is very often that handling of a situation...is lack of governance. The issue of an apology does not arise. But it is sure that riots are a sad issue, Advani said.

Talking about Babri Masjid demolition, Advani said that it was the saddest day of life. He said, "I have maintained that it was the saddest day of my life. The organisation which had planned the movement should have anticipated the people's impatience. Everyone was shocked after what happened."

Advani cleared his stance on Pakistan by saying that, India should not indulge in any formal talks till the neighboring country stops cross-border terrorism.

"I welcome the invite extended to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Yusuf Raza Gilani to watch the cricket match. We think that there should be as much as contact between people to people. However, we are firm in our stand that there should be no former dialogue (with Pakistan) till there is zero terrorism."
