Blame Game started in Adarsh scam; Army officers poked

Mumbai, Mar 24: For the first time in the history of Indian Army, so many army top officials have been accused in a single case by an army court. Delivering its findings in the Adarsh Housing Scam, Army court of inquiry (CoI) showed ten top army officers including former Army chiefs, Gen Deepak Kapoor and Gen N C Vij responsible for the scam.

The investigation report by the CoI has been submitted to the Defence Ministry, sources reported. The report clearly showed that the land, where the Adarsh Housing was constructed, belonged to the army.

The investigating report also claimed that the No-Objection Certificate (NOC) to the private housing society to construct the 31-storeyed complex on a plot in Kolaba was issued in violation of rules.

The probe report submitted by the CoI, stated that the conduct of the accused officers blameworthy. Culpability had been exposed and it was now for the CBI to probe the matter, the report suggested.

The ten top accused army officers are:

  • Gen Deepak Kapoor
  • Gen N C Vij
  • Lt Gen GS Sihota,
  • Lt Gen PK Rampal,
  • Lt Gen Shantanu Choudhry
  • Lt Gen Tejinder Singh
  • Maj Gen Ram Kanwar Hooda
  • Maj Gen AR Kumar
  • Major Gen VS Yadav
  • Maj Gen Tej Kishen Kaul

Mumbai's Adarsh Housing was meant to build for the heroes and the kins of the Kargil heroes. The scam was come under the limelight after voices raised as claiming the housing violated environmental norms. Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan was forced to table his resignation over his alleged role in the whole scam.
