Magician Harry Houdini gets new Google Doodle

Melbourne, Mar 23: Just a day after getting the patents for Google Doodles, the internet giant Google featured a special doodle in selected countries to celebrate the 137th birthday of Hungarian-born American magician and escapologist, Harry Houdini.

The new Google Doodle for Harry Houdini painted the portrait of this magician with name 'Google' in the background. This doodle also shows broken chains and a lock, which symbolizes his escape tricks and ability to get out of seemingly impossible situations.

Harry Houdini was born with the name Ehrich Weisz on Mar 24, 1874, in Budapest, Hungary. After reaching New York, Harry Houdini began his professional career at age 17 doing magic shows before civic groups, in music halls, at sideshows.

Harry Houdini was famous for his great escapes like Mirror handcuff challenge, Milk Can Escape, Chinese Water Torture Cell, Suspended straitjacket escape, Overboard box escape, Buried Alive stunt etc.
