Hasan Ali Khan
New Delhi, Mar 17: There's no relief in sight for India's alleged largest tax evader Hasan Ali Khan. Days after being granted bail by a Mumbai court, the Supreme Court of India has on Mar 17, put a stay on the order. Furthermore, the apex court has also granted a four-day custody of Hasan Ali to the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

Hasan Ali Khan has been accused of evading tax for a long time time on most of his businesses and also of having stashed nearly $8 billion in Swiss banks. His businesses include stud farms, scrap dealerships and real estate.

The ED had moved to the Supreme Court against a Mumbai court order rejecting its plea for custodial interrogation of Hasan Ali Khan.

The bench of Justice SS Nijjar and Justice B Sudarshan Reddy downturned the Mumbai court verdict and ordered four days of custodial remand of the Pune-based stud farm owner to the Enforcement Directorate.
