The famed pooram has been in existence in Kerala since the last 1,428 years and is known for the colourful pageantry and the decorated pachyderms. Kerala Tourism Secretary, Dr. V. Venu said, “Cultural tourism is a focus area of Kerala Tourism. The culture, festivals and traditions of Kerala, if promoted in a big way, would bring more travelers to the state. The live webcast of Arattupuzha Pooram is a step in this regard."
The webcast aims to capture two days of the seven-day long festival that will see a display of caparisoned elephants, colourful processions, traditional percussion ensembles and special religious rituals.
