The minister informed about this decision while wrapping up discussion on the grants of Youth Services and Sports department and Sports Council in state Assembly last evening.
He said out of Rs 7.30 crore, Rs 4.51 crore have been spent on the development of 413 playfields in village panchayat and 14 at block level so far under the scheme.
As many as 8000 youth from across the State were engaged as volunteers under National Youth Corps for various national building activities, Chib said and added that honorarium of Rs 2500 is being provided to each monthly.
He further added that the matter of developing two mega projects Gindun at Rajbagh and MAM Indoor stadium at a cost of Rs 6 crore each has been taken up with the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports for funding under central sector.
An amount of Rs 10 crore has been earmarked for the development of sports facilities at Wathoora in Budgam and Sajalta at Udhampur by the Sports Authority of India.
Stadiums at district headquarters are also being renovated and upgraded to give boost to sports activities at district level, he said adding that Rs 14.15 crore are being utilized for the purpose.
Apart from this, he said army is also developing sports infrastructure at Kupwara and Noweshra under Sadhbhawana operation.
The minister gave full details of works of Physical Education College, Ganderbal, on which works worth Rs 30.39 crore are under execution.
He said Ice hockey ring is under construction at Leh under PMRP on which Rs 1.89 crore have been incurred so far.
Saying that sports plays vital role in development of physique and mind of youth, he said government is committed to develop sports infrastructure to promote games in all the nooks and corners of the State.
He said the youth have made their presence felt at national level as well as international levels due to the efforts of government to give broader exposure to the young men in sports.
