Official: Microsoft to launch Internet Explorer 9 on Mar 14

San Francisco, Mar 10: Amid the rumors, the computer giant Microsoft announced the official date for the launch of the final version of its popular internet browser, Internet Explorer 9 (IE9). The new IE9 will be available for download on Monday, Mar 14.

Microsoft released the first stable release of IE in Sep 2010 and marked a record 2 million downloads within 2 days of the release. Later, in Feb 2010, IE9 final public release candidate version was released and now it is ready for the stable release. With the new features on IE9, Microsoft has been promising "A More Beautiful Web" experience for the users around the globe.

Earlier, rumors spread on web that the IE9 will be launched on Mar 24 at Tech.Ed India 2011. Now, the official announcement made it clear that the new version of Internet explorer, which dominates the web browser market with more than 50 per cent market share, will be up for grabs on Mar 14.

The new version of Internet Explorer supports several CSS 3 properties, improved JavaScript performance, and embedded ICC v2 or v4 color profiles support via Windows Color System. Microsoft also promises features like Tracking Protection, hardware-accelerated graphics rendering using Direct2D, ActiveX filter, hardware-accelerated text rendering using DirectWrite, hardware-accelerated video rendering using Media Foundation, imaging support provided by Windows Imaging Component, and high fidelity printing powered by the XPS print pipeline.

Through the Microsoft Blog, Ryan Gavin, Microsoft's Senior Director, Internet Explorer Business and Marketing, said that the company has some more surprises to unveil on IE9. The official release date of IE9 was announced just hours after the release of Google Chrome 10. So, surely we can expect some surprising features on Internet Explorer 9.
