New Delhi, Mar 10: The appointment of PJ Thomas as Central Vigilance Commissioner (CVC) continues to haunt Congress led UPA government. Now, Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan seems to feel the heat in the case.

After the PM, now it is the Maharashtra CM who will face some grilling time. Chavan on Thursday, Mar 10 has been summoned by Congress High Command in the national capital.

Chavan has already been in the boil over his role in appointing Thomas as CVC despite Thomas' tainted role in the Kerala Palmolein case.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh also blamed Chavan for putting Thomas on the list of candidates. Chavan was formerly the minister of state in Prime Minister Office (PMO).

During his speech in Lok Sabha, the PM also informed that Chavan supervised the relevant note for the selection committee comprising Manmohan Singh, Union Home Minister P Chidambaram and Opposition leader Sushma Swaraj.

Washing his hands from the case, the PM stated, "Was I aware of the pendency of the chargesheet against Thomas? The honest answer is that the note was prepared under the guidance of the minister of state in charge of DoPT, and that note did not contain this information (Thomas' alleged role in Palmolein Case)."

Chavan, reportedly, will leave for New Delhi by 4:30 pm on Thursday, Mar 10.
