Women's Day: Swabhimaan honours Sindhutai Sapkal, Sulochana
Sapkal is recognised for raising orphan children was donated a cheque of Rs 1 lakh by Nitesh for her organisation. She interacted with over 2000 Swabhimaan women members.
"Our women are the strength of the society. I believe that this day celebrates the life of a woman who faces hardships with her inner strength. Sindhutai and Sulochana didi are the living legends that have set an example for our women.
"On this day, I would like to take an initiative to provide shelter to widows and women who are abandoned by their families. I will speak to Sachin Ahir, Chairman, MHADA for special women's reservation," he said, at the function held here yesterday.
For the products made by women's Self Help Groups, Swabhimaan has tied-up with Big Bazaar and Apna Bazaar to ensure that their products get a good market, he said.
