While many of its Android mobiles get an 2.2 Froyo update, Motorola decided to keep the same operating systems on Charm and Flipout. The decision, which breaks the hearts of thousands of Charm and FlipOut users, was announced through the latest update to software releases for Android smartphones.
It suggests that Motorola plans to keep up with new smartphones and provide updates for the mobiles which have performed well in the markets. The lower number of sales would be the prominent reason for not providing the OS update.
Also, with the launch of Android 2.3 Gingerbread and the upcoming of rumored Android 2.4 Ice Cream sandwich, Motorola feels the update for Eclair would be a waste. In recent times, Motorola announced update for some devices running on Android 2.2 Froyo OS. Stay tuned for more news on Motorola updates.
