Charleroi, Mar 5: There is something about great players across all sports which allows them to restart their games from the same heights which they had prior to a hiatus caused by an injury. And Rafael Nadal, the World No.1 in Men's Tennis gave ample demonstration of the fact in his comeback match in the Davis Cup.

Spain had no troubles, whatsoever while rolling over a 2-0 lead against hapless Belgium. The stars for Spain were undoubtedly Rafael Nadal and Fernando Verdasco, the World No.9 who replaced injured David Ferrer.

Verdasco quashed Xavier Mallise 6-4 6-3 6-1 to start the proceedings for Spain. And then it was all Nadal, as the World No.1 put forth his array of blistering stroke-play to sail past Ruben Bemelmans.

Nadal showed no signs of discomfort, and appeared to have regained complete fitness from the injury sustained during his Australian Open 2011 quarter-final defeat to compatriot David Ferrer.

At the post-match conference, Nadal said, "I felt comfortable and I think that in general it was a pretty controlled match throughout...I thought I started well without making any errors. Then in the second set and at the start of the third I took my foot off the gas a bit but finished a little better."

Spain, the Davis Cup champions of 2000, 2004, 2008 and 2009 are widely expected to seal the tie in the doubles match on Mar 5. If they do manage to achieve that, then either US or Chile are expected to be its quarter-final opponents.
