Created bedlam in marriage party, murdered

New Delhi, Mar 5: Alcohol shows its deadly effects in many ways. But citing the destiny of a man, who went to attend a marriage party, people may afraid of consuming alcohol in a social gathering. A man has been beaten to death as he, after consuming liquor, reportedly created chaos is a marriage ceremony.

The bride's father Uma Shanker and his another relative were arrested in the murder case of a 35-year-old Mohan Lal who came as a barati (groom side).

Police began inquiry after an FIR was lodged by the victim's family after he went missing. When his body was recovered first, his family was unable to identify him, sources informed. However, a tailoring tag on the victim's shirt led police to trace the accused.

Deputy Commissioner of Police in Delhi, V Renganathan stated, "The victim had gone for the marriage along with his friend. He had consumed alcohol. At the function he was dancing and disturbing all people and using filthy language. Shankar noticed Lal was arguing with the DJ."

Renganathan also added, "Everybody was asking him to keep quiet, but he stuck to his demands. Shankar went to stop him, but he did not pay any heed to his repeated requests. Meanwhile two relatives of Shankar - Deepu Prashad and Mangru - attempted to threaten him so that he leaves the function."

The two accused allegedly beat the victim when "his (victim's) relatives tried to ensure that Lal minds his manners but to no avail. When Lal refused to leave the function despite Shankar's insistence, he (bride's father) and Prasad took him aside and assaulted him," eyewitnesses stated.

However, after interrogating the two accused, police officials informed, "Shankar and other family members were busy with the function. They did not care where Mohan Lal had gone and what had happened to him (victim)."
