A journey of marriage ends at graveyard; 32 dead
A truck, carrying more than 40 people, plunged into a 300-feet deep gorge in Chamba district. 30 people were spot dead and others succumbed to injury on the way to a hospital.
Police officials informed that the truck was carrying about 40 people. Chamba district police chief stated that the injured persons have been moved to near by RP Government Medical College. Bodies of the deceased were being retrieved from the gorge, police sources informed.
Local media reported that the truck, which was moving to Shekhpur from from Chaura, plunged into the gorge at around 12:30 am. Though the cause of the accident is yet to be found.
However, Himachal is experiencing a heavy snow falls. Heavy rain have been reported from the region and cold wave reportedly embrace the state. Citing the bad weather at the region, sources stated that the accident might have happened due to the worst weather.
Meanwhile, in an another accident, nine persons were killed when a pick-up van rolled into a ditch near Bharmaur on the same day at near Chamba.
