Brigadier Sudantha Ranasinghe, Commissioner General of Rehabilitation, informed earlier on the auspicious day that the LTTE cadres would be released at a function which will be held in Vavuniya Cultural Centre on the Maha Shivratri.
People, who successfully completed the pre-school teacher training programme at Vauniya, Poonthoddam rehabilitation centre, would receive their certificates at the same function, Ranasinghe stated.
An art competition has been held for the ex-combatants under various themes like peace, harmony and their experience at the rehabilitation centre and the selected paintings would be displayed at an exhibition to be held at the Art Gallery, Ranasinghe added.
The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), which was reportedly the most dangerous and deadly extremist outfits in the world, began its armed campaign in Sri Lanka for a separate Tamil homeland in 1983.
With the killing of its Chief Velupillai Prabhakaran on May 18, 2009 and its defeat it in Eelam War IV the outfit has become inactive inside Sri Lanka.
However, Maha Shivratri might have brought really good news for the LTTE cadres but it has spraeded another zeal among the web searchers. The ecstacy among people about Maha Shivratri is clearly visible if anyone cites Google trends. Today's Google trends is filled with the search like - mahashivratri sms, shivratri sms, shiv bhajan, om namah shivaya, lord shiva wallpapers, happy shivratri, shiv chalisa, sivarathri, shiva songs.
