Punjab Games open with grand ceremony

Ludhiana, Feb 28: Punjab Games opened on Monday, Feb 28 with a spectacular ceremony as the state vowed to free the youth from intoxicants and offer them enough career opportunities in sports.

Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal declared the biggest ever sports extravaganza held in the state as, the city dazzled with sparkling fire works.

Bollywood star Akshay Kumar, who has agreed to become Ambassador of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh Punjab Games, mesmerized the jam packed audience at Guru Nanak Dev Stadium with his performance.

All the teams from 20 participating districts came to the stadium holding their flags in the march past.

The opening ceremony was choreographed by Prof. Bansi Kaul who had choreographed the ceremony of CWG as well.

4300 sportsmen and officials from the state took the oath of sportsman ship.

Speaking on the occasion Badal said, "Games were my passion and I have institutionalized the arrangement that these games become an Annual Feature in the Sports Calendar of the State."
