H S RaoLondon, Feb 28 (PTI) Two persons have been arrested inconnection with the death of 21-year-old NRI Gagandip Singhwho was found dead in the boot of a burnt out car inBlackheath, police said today.
Singh from Bexleyheath was discovered dead after afierce blaze ripped through the dumped Mercedes in southLondon.
Detectives are questioning a woman and a man -- both19-year-old -- on suspicion of murder, Scotland Yard said ina statement.
Officers on patrols discovered the burning vehicle inBlackheath in the early hours of Saturday morning and calledthe fire brigade.
The young man was found inside a short while later andhis next of kin have been informed.
Police do not believe it was a random killing, theyconfirmed today.
Detective Chief Inspector Damian Allain, from theMetropolitan Police Homicide and Serious Crime Command, said:"We are appealing for anyone who was in or around theAngerstein Lane area that may have seen this car either arriveor seen anyone acting suspiciously as the car was left ablazeto contact us.
"We already know that the car was last seen around5.30pm in south east London, so we are also appealing toanyone who can help us identify how the car came to be inAngerstein Lane.
"At this early stage we don''t believe that this was arandom killing and are exploring the line of inquiry that thiswas a targeted attack against our victim.
"A post-mortem examination held yesterday at GreenwichMortuary proved inconclusive. Tests revealed the victimsuffered severe head injuries. However, further tests would beconducted in order to establish cause of death." PTI HSR
