50 mobile phones recovered from Central jail
Jodhpur, Feb 27 (PTI) In a major drive against use ofmobile phones in the Central jail here, jail authorities haveseized 50 mobile phones from the prisoners.
"Entire jail staff of 50 wardens, jailers and DSPs wereinvolved in this operation, who checked the belongings of allthe 1200 inmates across 40 barracks," said Jail SuperintendentA R Niyazi.
Eight SIM cards and Rs 8500 in cash have also beenseized, said IG (Jail) Govind Gupta.
"The jail administration in Jodhpur took this specialdrive called ''Operation Jail Clean'', which will also bereplicated in all the other jails of Jodhpur and Bikanerdivision," Gupta added.
Despite the installation of the mobile jamming mechanismabout a year back at the cost of Rs 1 crore, desired resultsdue to various reasons were not achieved.
