Youth commits suicide after being caught in a duping case

Bangalore, Feb 26 (PTI) A 22-year-old allegedly committedsuicide after he was caught duping a woman of her goldjewellery here today.

According to police,the youth along with two friends, allhailing from West Bengal, approached the woman claiming thatthey had an ingredient that could add sparkle to herjewellery.

The woman believing them, handed over a gold chain to bepolished. The trio then dipped the chain in a liquid.

However, when they pulled it out, the woman suspected thather seven gram chain appeared to be weighing lighter.

Smelling something fishy, she got the youth to go to anearby shop and weigh her jewellery. The move confirmed herdoubts. The chain was weighing four grams less.

On realising they had been caught, two of the youthescaped, but one of them was caught.

The woman''s family decided to hand him to the police andtook him in an autorickshaw. However, enroute, the youthpulled out a substance, suspected to be cyanide and gulped it.

He was rushed to Victoria hospital, but was declared dead.
