"The reports had claimed that a day before the accord wassigned, second-rung leaders of PMK and AIADMK had met whenAIADMK had reportedly offered some constituencies, which isnothing but rumour. There is not even an iota of truth in thisand PMK and AIADMK leaders were never involved in parleys",PMK president G K Mani said in a statement here.

He charged a section of the media with trying to ''demean''its poll tie-up with DMK and said they were carrying reports''aimed at maligning PMK.''

They intended to create ''confusion'' by claiming MKarunanidhi had subsequently arrived at a hurried deal withPMK. Such reports were not true, he said.

The deal was clinched at a one-off meeting between PMKfounder S Ramadoss and DMK chief M Karunanidhi, he added.

DMK had allotted 31 seats to PMK for coming Assemblyelections when Ramadoss had met Karunanidhi on February 18.
