Tripoli, Feb 27 (ANI): Scores of Libyan soldiers who had refused to fight against the pro-democracy protestors in Benghazi, were burned alive by their own forces, residents have said.

Sky News quoted the residents as saying that they were shown a room containing bodies, which anti-government demonstrators claimed were the remains of 13 troops.

Residents have claimed that there were a total of 67 bodies in the city.

A soldier in Benghazi, Libya's second largest city that is now under the control of anti-regime groups, has admitted that he had opened fire on crowds after being threatened to be killed if he refused to obey the orders of the regime, the report said.

Meanwhile, doctors have said that a total of 500 people, mostly pro-democracy supporters, were killed and another 1,900 injured in the uprising in Benghazi that started over a week ago. (ANI)
