Ranchi, Feb 26 (PTI) With state of the art infrastructurein place thanks to the staging of 34th National Games,Jharkhand Olympic Association chief R K Anand today requestedthe government to establish a sports university here to makeuse of the facilities.
Addressing a jam-packed stadium, Anand said, "We have abeautiful infrastructure in place here. I request thegovernment to consider this for establishing a sportsuniversity here. Also I request to allot more coaching andtraining camps here."
"After the state was formed in 2000, we tried to host theNational Games here to unearth the talents here. We requestedthe IOA to grant us the Games and we are thankful to them.
There had been many hurdles and finally we have becomesuccessful in putting up a great show," Anand said.
Built at Mega Sports Complex at Hotwar in the outskirtsof Ranchi, it has all the infrastructures including cyclingvelodrome, synthetic athletics track, aquatics venue, indoorstadiums that is needed to host a multi-disciplinecompetition.
