CBI team takes charge of investigation in MLA murder case

Purnia, Feb 26 (PTI) A five-member CBI team headed bydeputy superintendent of police C B Bhatt arrived here todayand took over the investigation in the sensational BJP MLA RajKishore Keshari murder case.

The CBI team in a written application to ChiefJudicial Magistrate D.L. Prasad sought his permission to takeover the investigation of the case upon which the judgedirected Khajanchihat police station in-charge Arvind Kumar tohand over the documents and evidences related to the case toit.

Keshari was stabbed to death at his house here by alocal school principal Rupam Pathak on January 4.

Police had arrested Rupam and another accused NawaleshPathak and charged them with conspiracy in the case.

Alleging sexual harassment by the late BJP MLA, Rupamand her family members had demanded a CBI probe in the murdercase.

Taking into account similar demands from variousquarters, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had recommended a CBIprobe in the BJP MLA murder case.
