Jamshedpur, Feb 25 (PTI) Former President of India A P JAbdul Kalam today interacted with senior students of variousschools of Jamshedpur.
During the inter-action session, the questions raised bystudents touched upon several issues and challenges beingfaced by our country.
Kalam was in the steel city today to take part in TataSteel Education Excellence Award function held at RabindraBhawan (Tagore Academy).
33 schools including 2 schools from West Bokaro, and onefrom Boiser, Mumbai have participated in Tata Steel EducationExcellence Programme.
All the schools that have scored more than 350 (out of1000) were recognized during the programme.
A total of 187 trained assessors-including Principals,teachers and officers from Tata group of companies, guided by10 mentors carried out the comprehensive task of assessingthese schools.
18 of these schools were recognized at the award function.
The schools were also awarded for ''Education QualityImprovement Projects'' (EQUIP) this year.
Out of a total 50 EQUIPs four are being recognized at theaward function. Another category of recognition was ''BestPractices of Schools.'' Three Best Practices of schools werealso awarded.
In his welcome address, H M Nerurkar, Managing Director,Tata Steel, spoke about the evolution and growth of TEEPprogramme.
