GOC flags in Trans-India Cycle Expedition team

Jammu, Feb 26 (PTI) After covering 3,000 kms over fourstates during its 52-day journey, an expedition team of 157Infantry Battalion of Territorial Army was flagged in by asenior army officer here today.

Maj Gen T P S Waraich, General Officer Commanding ofTiger Division, flagged in the seven-member team of TransIndia Territorial Army Cycle Expedition which comprised oneJunior Commissioned Officer and six jawans.

The team started from Jammu on January 3 and returnedafter successfully completing the journey covering 3,000 kmsover four states -- Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana andRajasthan.

After interacting with the cyclists, the GOC said,"Besides testing the physical and mental stamina of thecyclists, the expedition, was instrumental in publicisingthe concept of Territorial Army and has been a great help inmotivating the youth to serve the nation in uniform".

It also promoted environmental awareness, nationalintegration and security consciousness among people in thecountryside, besides providing a wonderful opportunity forthe participants to learn more about the country as the teamvisited various places of historical and cultural interest,Waraich said.
